It was a cold, dark, January evening, 1989. The store’s front door was locked. We were staying late for compulsory training. Seated on folding chairs amongst the foam chips and stacks of cardboard in the shipping area, we waited for our guest to arrive. Anticipation filled the room. Hailing all the way from Microsoft Headquarters, what would he show us, what would he say? What happened next was unforgettable...
“You can go it alone and get there faster, or you can travel together, and go much further.”
“Before I begin tonight, before we get into all the exciting tech and changes that are coming, I am here first and foremost to bring a message from the highest level of our company. The Microsoft leadership team wants to convey, in the most sincerest terms, a message of appreciation. We are thankful for your partnership and indeed thankful for all our partners. Microsoft has stood on the shoulders of giants and our fragile success, thus far, has only been possible because of our partners at every level, small and large, and that includes everyone of you in this room...”
And he continued, for several more minutes, telling our small group of fledgling technicians and sales reps how partnership was the key to Microsoft’s success right down to the last programmer, vendor, technician, sales rep, and computer store.
30 years later, the sincerity of that message still rings in my ears, and I can not for the life of me, remember one other thing that our visitor said that night. Only a few years later, Ci2 Group was born and our founding mission remains the same to this day, to be a strategic partner.
On behalf of everyone here at Ci2, we thank you for the opportunity to celebrate 25 years of partnership in Western Canada with organizations just like yours. We appreciate the opportunity with every fibre in our being.
